Unable to synchronize with Active Sync using a Pocket PC

When attempting to synchronize a Sprint Pocket PC (PPC 6700SP running MS Windows mobile version 5.0) Smart Phone with Exchange Server 2003, I get the following error message:

Your account in Microsoft Exchange server does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings.  Contact your exchange server administrator.

Support Code: 0x8501004

After rebooting the Pocket PC the error message changed to:

The security certificate on the server is invalid.  Contact your Exchange server administrator or ISP to install a valid certificate on the server.

Support Code:  0x80072F0D

All mobile services are enabled in the user account and mobile services are enabled in Exchange.  Exchange is running on a Windows 2003 server that is a member server.  This has never been operational, but is rather new functionality that we wish to roll out.  It is not localized to one user account, but is experienced by all users that we have tried to set up.

What are you using for the SSL certificate on the Exchange server?
If you browse to the Exchange server from the PDA, but instead of going to /exchange for OWA, enter /oma (https://server.domain.com/oma) what happens?

ASKER

THE SSL cert is for OWA.  When I go to /OMA, it takes me to the OWA login page.  It appears to just give some attitude with Active Sync.

It's a StartCom certificate, but I suppose I'll have to import that.  Let me try and I'll post the results.
You got me started down the right path here Semnee.  Installed the verisign cert and all is right with the world.  Thanks!
I'm having the same problem, I have OMA checked off under ESM>Global Settings>Mobile Services, I then right clicked Mobile services, and checked off everything under OMA. I'm still getting this certificate error. What else can I check?
TJacoberger1 - this is an old question. Unlike a forum it is not possible to "bump" questions back up the list. The only people who will see your post are those that have already participated. Instead you should post your question as a new question in the Exchange Server Zone which will allow other experts the chance to see the question and respond.
