Deleted user issue

I have a strange problem that maybe someone can help me with. I am running SBS 2000 with Exchange, Two former employees who have been deleted from active directory months ago are still some how in the Exchange system. When a user sends an appointment to a legit user on the domain, all of a sudden the deleted user is Cc: on the appointment even though they only sent it to one person resulting in them receiving a NDR to stating that the user does not exits. The user is not in there contact neither in their auto complete in outlook I actually edited the auto complete with a tools and removed those users. The deleted person is also not in their personal contacts or are they in the GAL. There are no old forwarding policies and even if there was there is no user to point to. The funny thing is when I go to the bounced message and right click the ghost user which name is there now even though the appointment was only sent to one person I can see the Distinguished name ex: (OU=First administrative Group CN=Recipients etc..) but they are not in Active Directory. I am thinking there are some AD database mishaps going on here, any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like at one time these users were configured as alternate recipients to somebody that was invited to the appointment.
Start checking the properties of the useraccounts that were invited to the appointment.
try using the ADSI tool, which is located in the "C:\Program Files\Support Tools\adsiedit.msc", run that tool,
then  go to the domain object, now expand the object DC=Domain , DC=com
then expand the location where the orginal ghost users objected where located check if they are there, if they are delete them.

if they are not there then click on view, then chose filter and then edit the filter, to addressbookcontainer and contianer, and user, then the list should be filtered and check to see if records of the ghost accounts are still there.

let me know how that turns out.

I had the exact same problem - have the user add anyone as a delegate, apply, then remove them.  That seemed to fix it for me.

I added and removed a user on the AD properties under mailbox rights and I asked the user to add and remove a delegate on there outlook properties. I have used the asiedit but I don’t see a container called PublicDelegateBL. Anything else guys this problems is real annoying especially because it is happening to a pain in the neck client.
