ActiveSync With Mobile 5

I am lost. I have Exchange Server 2003 and new PDA from Verizon. XV6700 run Mobile 5 and ActiveSync 4.0. Win i try to sync i recieve the following error on the PDA:

Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to
synchronize your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server
administrator.
Support code: 0x85010004

All users have access to all mobile services in AD. And Mobile services are enabled in ESM.

I also recieve an error on the exchange server every time someone tries to sync:
Source: Server ActiveSync
Category: None
EventID: 3005
User: MYDOMAIN/Username
Computer: ServerName

Description:Unexpected Exchange mailbox Server error: Server: [servername.MYDOMAIN.lan] User: [email_name@my_domain_DNS_name.com] HTTP status code: [409]. Verify that the Exchange mailbox Server is working correctly.

I can find very little on this error and can not find a reason why i would be logging these errors. Any help would be appreciated.

We have had a spate of ActiveSync questions this week, you might want to go searching for them as I am going to repeat the initial troubleshooting steps...

Forget about ActiveSync for a moment... see if OMA works. ActiveSync uses the OMA structure, so in many cases if you get OMA to work then activeync works.

Start up a regular web browser and disable friendly http error messages.
Then browse to https://server.domain.com/oma (where server.domain.com is the name on the certificate and the name of your server).

You will get a username and password prompt. Enter your username and password in the format of domain\username and then the password.
You should get a folder listing. If you get anything else, post back.

Many of the problems with activesync are down to .net framework or authentication. As OMA uses the same parts, this quickly shows up.

Yes my OWA has been working for months, It is set up to use FormBase Authentification and SSL. This is why I can't figure out why my ActiveSync will not work.

Not OWA - OMA - Outlook Mobile Access.

https://servername.domain.com/oma

Technically you cannot have FBA, SSL and OMA/EAS enabled on the same server.
However I have it working on my home Exchange server.

You need to ensure that both integrated and basic authentication are enabled on the /exchange virtual directory in IIS Manager.

Simon.
My bad, If i go to the https://servername.domain.com/oma it recieve a pop up to log in. I log in and recieve this error.

Access to the path "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temporary ASP.NET Files\oma\55aaeb43\5ef66257" is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

.NET framework errors. Very common. The .net framework system doesn't have the permissions to access everything that it needs to.

Try this...
Drop in to a command prompt and enter the following command:

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\aspnet_regiis.exe" -i

- adjust the c:\windows bit as appropriate for your server.

Simon.
The aspnet_regiis.exe is on my e drive . So i change the C to and E and it says it can not find the file. Search for the file and it is in the same Dir. that you have listed except on E. Dont know??
Never mind you had a " in your cmd.

Now i recieve Page can not Be found HTTP error 404
Oops - that was my mistake. Dodgy bit of copy and paste.

Any errors in the event log?

If you skip the https bit and just browse to http://servername/oma internally, what happens then?

You may have to do an iisreset to get IIS to pickup the changes.

Simon.
Restarted IIS and i revcieve the same 404 http error wheather i use https or http.
Is the OMA virtual directory listed in IIS Manager?

Simon.
Yes, that was what i was just checking.

Where does it point?

Should be
<path> \exchsrvr\oma\browse

Simon
exchsrve\oma\browse

Checked to make sure the directory is there and it is.

Called microsoft and they walked me through the KB artical above, but there were additional regedits that need to be made that are not in the KB. The reason for this is that i am running FBA,SSL, https/rpc, on one server.
Thanks for the help
Do you recall what additional regedits they got you to do? I wasn't aware of anything additional but if there are some undocumented changes it might be good to have them for future reference.

On my home server I have OWA, OMA, ActiveSync, SSL, FBA and RPC over HTTPS all enabled on the same server!

Simon.
I reconfigured the Exchange account on my phone and it worked.
