Exchange seems to create mailbox, but don't work

Hello, i've 10 users well created in  exchange server 2003. Now, I want to create a new user, i check the option to create a mailbox. All seems ok, but, after more minutes, i don't have the SMTP neither X400 mail adresses associated with the new user.
When I try to open a Microsoft Outlook (in my client PC) to configure the new mailbox (Exchange option) and put the user and the user name, the checking user fails.

What the hell is happening?

Thank you very much, this is causing me a lot of problems.

Thank you another time.

You shouldn't be creating email addresses manually - even you Carl. That is an indication that all is not well with the server.

Try forcing the receipient update service to run.
ESM, Recipients, Recipient Update Service. Right click on each item and choose Update Now. See if the email addresses are created on to the mailbox.
If it fails, then try Rebuild. That takes longer - you will need to leave it at least 30 minutes.

If the addresses still not being stamped on the user accounts, then look in the event viewer for any domain related problems.

Simon.
go to system manager recepients then recepient policy right click on default policy and select Apply now to update email addresses
Cheers !

seems to be a problem with RUS not stamping the email ID..Try forcibly replicating the RUS. Wait for some time to let it replicate.
Here are a couple of links to clarify what RUS does and how to troubleshoot it.  Simon is right in that you should never manually create smtp address that RUS is responsible for creating.

http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF017.html
Also, you can enable dianostic logging in the event log to troubleshoot RUS issues.  Only do this for a shot period of time as your logs will grow very rapidly, but it will show you exactly what is causing the error.  For now, you may see a simple message stating that RUS failed.

Hi friends, I've tried all your options, but it doen's work yet.

Do you know where I can see the created mailboxes (not in Exchange administrator) to check if the mailbox really exists?

Because We don't sure.

Thanks

The mailboxes are not created until they need to be - ie by a message being delivered to the mailbox or something logging on to the mailbox.
If RUS isn't doing what it has to do, then you will be unable to send an email message to the address, because Exchange doesn't know that it exists.

Simon.
And then, what can I do?

The only thing I see, is that my new users don't have any mail adress (SMTP, X400) nothing. I¡ve tried to update now and rebuild the recipient service, but don't work.

Thank you for your help.

Another clue:

When I try to configure the Microsoft Exchange account in a client PC, I put the name of the server, the name of my new user, and when I click the check names button, the answer is:

That name isn't in adress book.

And I cannot continue.

Thanks

Is this SBS or full version of Exchange?
Do you have a separate domain controller?

What you are seeing is what happens when Recipient Update Service hasn't been updated - Exchange doesn't know anything about the user.

If you right click on the user in ADUC and choose Exchange Tasks, do you get an option to Create or Move the mailbox?

Simon.
Hiiiiiiiiiiiii

Incredible, I solve the problem restartint the server. I'm a little embarrassed, i'm sorry, but i couldn't imagine that. I only created a new user.

After the restart all works fine.

Sorry, and sincerely thank you a lot.

still a good time to go through the learning curve of how email addresses are composed in ADUC
