Configure Exchange to assume a default domain name when not using forms based authentication.

How do I configure exchange 2003 sp1 to assume a default domain name when not using fba.  I have tried using -domain, domain.com and \ for authentication in OWA and Public but I still have to enter in domain\user name to login.

You can check the following

How to configure Exchange Server 2003 so that users can log on to OWA without entering a domain name

Didn't work.  What about changing the authentication in OMA in IIS to "my domain".com
Hi,

Is this a single server scenario??? If so and if you are not using FBA, then Integrated Windows Authentication will be enabled on your Exchange virtual folder. You will have to uncheck that and then follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379 for your ActiveSync and OMA to work fine as they require Integrated authentication on the Exchange virtual folder. Remember you will have to follow this kb only if it is a single server scenario. This does not apply for FE/BE environment.

Cheers,
Vasanth.

I am not receiving the error listed on the kb.  My configuration is a single exchange server.  We were able to login using only the username until we upgraded Exchange 2003 to service pack 1.

Two questions really.

1. Why aren't you on Service Pack 2 for Exchange 2003.
2. Why aren't you using Forms Based Authentication?

The requirement for domain\ is no longer present in FBA, despite what the login page might say, so no customisation is required.

Otherwise the only way that I know of is to set the default domain and the default realm to your domain.

Are you using SSL?

We are currently not using FBA or SP2.  Would going to SP2 solvbe the problem?
The combination of the service pack and FBA will solve the problem. I don't think SP2 on its own will resolve it because it is an IIS issue.
