OWA not loading correctly

I seem to be having a weird issue with OWA.  When i load it through internet explorer, i get a bunch of broken links for inbox, sent items and so on.

Just to try i logged in with Firefox, and its a bit better... i can at least read the emails.. but still the links look like broken images.

Would there be something i could check?

this is exchanger 2003 on server 2003.

Thanks in advance,

Chad

That is usually an indication that anonymous authentication isn't set on the /exchweb virtual directory in IIS Manager. Check that it is set correctly.

I checked them... also followed another post to reset the folders.. seems the authentication and everything is fine... it just doesn't display the folders and emails correctly.

like stated above... broken links and such.

not sure what the best course of action would be.

OWA was working, this took place after moving the schema master and domain naming master roles to a new server.
After moving the servers, did you reboot the Exchange server?
Have you actually removed the domain controller that held those roles?

The broken links etc mean that it cannot load the content of the /exchweb virtual directory - as that is where the standard components for OWA are stored.

Have a look in your current IIS log, and locate the GET requests for the items in the /exchweb VDir.  See if they are returning a 200 (OK) status, or something else, like 401, 403, 404, etc.
ok, got it going... but the credentials are a little weird...  only admins can login.

i get the following when users try to login,

You do not have permission to view this directory or page due to the access control list (ACL) that is configured for this resource on the Web server.

Thanks,
ACL means that there are problems with NTFS permissions on one or more files, rather than IIS permissions.  You will need to look at the IIS logs to see which files are returning the 401 error, but my first guess would be that some of the files or folders in C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\exchweb have NTFS permission problems.
would there be a way to reset the permissions on the folders? it seems almost all folders are coming back with the 401 error

chad
Not that I know of.  It's okay if you see a request for /Exchange return a 401, since that's what invokes the login dialog.  This kind of request will then be repeated, resulting in a 200 status.  If you see anything from /exchweb return a 401, then you will need to set the NTFS permissions to allow the IUSR_COMPUTERNAME account to read the files, and then let the permissions propagate.  You'll probably find it's just a question of setting the permissions on a single folder (exchweb) and letting it propagate to its subfolders.  What is the first URL in your logfile that doesn't begin with /Exchange, but returns a 401 ?
ahh, makes sense.. the iusr_computername <-- which computer name should be used? the servername of the exchange server that the web mail is hosted on? or a DC?

also i'm not sure which one would be the first regarding "What is the first URL in your logfile that doesn't begin with /Exchange, but returns a 401?"
