The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

dedicated servers - who's the best?

Asked by Misaki in ISPs & Web Hosting, Web Hosting

I want to get 3 dedicated servers, with a whole lot of RAM and fast processors (single CPU each).  I'd like to start a web hosting company off of them.

I began my search yesterday, and found two companies of interest: www.sod.net and ww.atlantech.net .  I also found a UK host that looked good, but I'm looking for a US provider. Atlantech is a little expensive, both look good compared to other providers.  They have both answered any questioned I have had very quickly. They are also both in the Mid-Atlantic region, both slightly removed from Washington DC.  I think this is the ideal place to locate servers, but I'd rather have them just a little bit away from the metro or Dulles area for extra security. SOD's network seems to have the advantage of connecting through both Washington, D.C. and Cleveland, Ohio for added redundancy to their connection.  SOD is in Richmond, Virginia.  Atlantech is a little closer to the metro in Silver Spring, Maryland. Both are close enough to me that I feel like I could visit them at any time. Neither uses cheap Cogent bandwidth. That was a factor of elimination for many of the companies I tested.

Does anyone know of any other good place to get my dedicated servers?  I'm looking for places that people have had actual experience with, other than the three I have already listed. If you had to pick the very top provider, who would it be?  Only one answer per member please.  And if you haven't had any real experience, please don't answer. Looking for something that starts at under $400-$500 each per month.

Thanks for your help.
