How to install ImageMagick with FTP-Only (no telnet, no cron, no root access, etc.)

How can I install ImageMagick binaries on *NIX shared server when all I have is FTP access so they'll work with PHP (no, GD is not installed and is NOT an option)?

PLEASE DO NOT JUNK UP THE RESPONSES WITH ANSWERS UNLESS YOU "KNOW" THEY WORK!!!!!!!  I will award the 500 points only to an answer that works, and I've already done "due dillegence" so please don't just throw an answer up unless you've tried it and it works...

I have found this link: http://www.photopost.com/magicknoroot-php.html but it is not really for binary installation and requires using a shell to 'configure' and 'make' it anyway.

You can use CGI Telnet (http://www.rohitab.com/cgiscripts/cgitelnet.html) to execute commands on your web server via a web interface. You don't need to have Telnet or shell access, just the ability to run CGI scripts is enough. Haven't tried installing this way but I'm sure it'll work.

But why don't you ask your host to install it for you?

While that last response does not help me, I like the idea for other reasons.  I'll award the points to GameOver if I get no better response that actually answers my question.  If I do get a working response, I'll award GameOver points in a separate posting.  Thank you!

Big_Red_Dog, I've just tried installing ImageMagick this way and it worked. Let me know why it didn't work for you and I may help.

It's my understanding that to install ImageMagik that you have to recompile PHP, which requires root access (something that only the webhost can do). Even if the CGI-telnet could get the files extracted, I don't think you'd have the proper permissions to install.

I've had to open tickets with the support team, who usually don't mind as long as you provide them the proper location(s) of the files and documentation.
