Alternatives to WebTrends

Hello,

I am looking into alternatives for WebTrends Analytics Software.  We host many different domains (on clustered servers), and would like to report on each individually as well as a whole.

For example:

Site A can log in, and see all their hits, and Site B can log in and see all their hits.

We as the hosters, can go in and see All Sites have X hits.

Are you looking for a service, or a package you can run yourself?

If the later:
are you looking for something that has module support for a current control panel?
Which platform are you running on: (Linux, Windows, etc)

Thanks for your response.

Ideally a package we can put on a server of it's own, and again, ideally Windows.  Since we are a Windows shop.

Module support would be nice, so we can automate creation of sites, but I'm sure I could do what we did with WebTrends, and just manipulate the database with scripts as necessary.

If you are interested at all in an open source solution you can look into awstats.  I'm not familiar with any commercial software better than WebTrends.

I'm not necessarily looking for something better.  Mostly I'm just looking for an alternative which provides the basic stats, and can be used in a clustered environment with many client sites.  We have WebTrends, but we don't use many, if any, of the advanced reporting.

Also, we are not looking for something free, as I believe it is always better to have a support option, but I would not count it out at the end.

Go with awstats

It work well with both Linux and Windows.

why not just use Google Analytics.  it is free.  it is all web based.  platform does not matter.  you just need a Google account, a website, and internet connection.  Place the codes on your web site and tracking is ready.  Another place is quantcast.com .

I try not to promote certain products over another, but I really enjoy these.  Best price.  FREE.

Well the problem with Google Analytics (maybe it's also due to my understanding of GA) is that Analytics can only work with a single site.  For instance:

we have www.server1.com and www.server2.com  (Completely different clients)

they are hosted on the same webservers, but different web + log directories.  I believe AWStats will work with this, but I think with GA, I would need a new google account for each and every client site.

Is this correct?

For GA, you can add multiple site with link "Add Website Profile", to give access to third party (customer), they need a gmail account. You can add them to "Access Manager"

Well I guess only one other problem exists.  We don't want to add JS to client sites, we would just like to monitor log files generated by the web server.  Since this allows us to keep a 6 month back log of stats.

For stats installed on your server, you can use Awstats or  http://www.google.com/analytics/ (some data center provide GA as software installable on your server -uarchin, eg: theplanet.com).

Sorry for the delay on accepting the answer.  I have been researching this, and I will be accepting a solution shortly.

I haven't been able to find a demo to see what types of reports can be created with Urchin.  I would assume they look similar to GA.
