How do I set MX record on DNS server?

I have a client who just started hosting her website with us.  Her email is hosted by suddenlink.com, and stopped working when I changed the A-records to resolve to our server.  She says that last time she switched webhosts, the new host had to "add MX.suddenlink.com to the dns file" on their server.  I'm used to setting MX records through Network Solutions, and I don't understand why I would have to add an MX record to my server if I'm not hosting her email.Start Free Trial
