General Web API Concepts

Asked by kcg-witchdoctor in JavaScript, PHP Scripting Language, Web Application Hosting

Tags: java php web

I am interested in creating re-usable web APIs for some of the web apps i have created.  I am unfamiliar with how existing web APIs ie facebook myspace ebay, overcome issues like cross domain security scripting and passing of data between sites. Also i am intrested in learning how they are so portable, ie maintinaing seperate seesions or distinguishing between users from a remote site, which may refer many users. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Also i have browsed though the W3 Web Api Sites http://www.w3.org/2006/webapi/  but am looking for a more simple conceptual explaination. Thank you for you time.  Start Free Trial
