website redirect works for external users, but not for internal domain computers

We have a url http://shortcut.domain.com which has been setup as a redirect by our website provider to http://www.domain.com/ourwebsitelink.html
This works fine externally and also on computers that are not joined to the domain but still within the network.. However all domain computers get a page not found error when trying to resolve http://shortcut.domain.com

Do you have any suggestions how we could resolve this?
