Ok,
1) partition your new hdd using fdisk, after that create a new filesystem on a partition using mke2fs:
fdisk /dev/hdx
mke2fs /dev/hdxxx
2) create temporary directory /tmphdd
3) mount a partition of your hdd on /tmphdd:
mount /dev/hdxxx /tmphdd
4) copy all content from /home to /tmphdd:
cp -R /home/* /tmphdd/
5) unmount partition:
umount /tmphdd
6) clear /home partition:
rm -rf /home/*
7) mount the new partition on /home:
mount /dev/hdxxx /home
8) edit your /etc/fstab and add this line:
/dev/hdxxx /home ext2 rw 0 2
make sure you have only one line containing /home

you cannot split a /home partition into two hard disks (or even two partitions on the same hdd)
what you can do is split the users under the /home.
so, /home/a_m on disk 1 (users a - m)
and /home/n_z on disk 2 (users n - z)
so homedir of art becomes /home/a_m/art
and the homedir of rick becomes /home/n_z/rick
