I did as you said and now after calling make, it returns:
The "uudecode" tool was not found on your system please make sure it is installed in your path, then try again.

I got rpm file, which i tryed to installed, but it did not due to some missing independencies( libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3.4) is needed by libmikmod-3.1.10-668). I am stuck, any ideas how to perceed?

The lack of a .config file in the kernel source tree simply means that it is clean (or reasonably so). The fix may be as simple as copying the appropriate config file that matches your running kernel from /usr/src/linux2.4.20-8/con figs to /usr/src/linux2.4.20-8/.co nfig
