The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

dnsreport.com errors, servers behind NAT/PAT

Asked by klukac in Linux Networking

Mail from my domain, which is hosted on a server behind a pix firewall, is still being delivered to junk mail, so I checked dnsreport.com and found the following errors:
1.  The parent servers (I checked with f.gtld.biz.) are not providing glue for all your nameservers. [This means that they are supplying the NS records (host.example.com), but not supplying the A records (192.0.2.53), which can cause slightly slower connections, and may cause incompatibilities with some non-RFC-compliant programs.]  Does this mean that I need to ask my ISP to include A records for the servers in my zone?  (They are aware of my servers' external IPs, so I take this to mean that I need to tell them what to do with that information).
2.  One or more of your mailservers is claiming to be a host other than what it really is.  I don't know how a nat'd server can avoid this!  The host name on the server is not the same name I use externally, because the PIX 501 requires separate hostnames for separate IPs.  If there's something that can be done about this, let me know.
3.  Your domain does not have an SPF record.   I went to http://www.openspf.org/ and changed my zone file based on the steps outlined at the site about 1.5 days ago.  Is this an indication that I made some mistake, that it doesn't work in a NAT environment, or that it takes longer to propagate?
Thanks in advance :)
