Configuring BIND9

Ok, this is really starting to piss me off.... brand new Ubuntu 6.06 installation with BIND9. I try to create a zone (test.com), and when I try to resolve to it using the new server it tells me "connection timed out; no servers could be reached". When I try restarting the Bind service I get "rndc: connect failed: connection refused" when it's stopping the service.

Ok... so I added this to my named.conf.options:

controls {
        inet 127.0.0.1 allow { localhost; } keys { rndc_key; };
};

key "rndc-key" {
        algorithm hmac-md5;
        secret "+Bw+RQQK1uhdg74ikjubMg==";
};

Still, same error...

I've been working on this for three hours.... WTF?!

Do you have iptables running? Can you post the output off "netstat -an"

Need mor einformation on how you are starting and stopping the process.

iptables is not running. It's a very basic installation. I'm starting and stopping the bind process by typing /etc/init.d/bind9 stop/start/restart.

you have 2 solution

1) download BIND9 new version and install it.

2) check your config with this configs
