I am trying to learn to use Linux, and so far am having no luck. I downloaded and installed open SUSE 10.3 and installed it as a virtual machine on my laptop. I was able to install it, but when I boot it up, I get the error:
"there was an error loading theme gdm-suse can't open file /usr/share/gdm/themes/gdm-
suse/gdm-s
use.xml"
My real issue is connecting to the network. I tried using dhcp (don't know if I even did that right) as well as a static ip. If I can figure that out, I don't really care about the error. I posted that just in case it had something to do with it. I don't get any other errors, except for that I cannot connect when opening firefox. I need some rudimentary steps to proceed with troubleshooting the network connection issue.
When installing, I chose the gnome option. Not for any reason other than that was the top choice.
Any help for this Linux challenged soul?
