how to copy directory and all its contents from one host to another in linux

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am having two linux servers one in head office and another in branch office , now i want to copy complete home directory and all contents of one user (/home/user1)from branch office linux server to the head office linux server , i am sitting in head office , i think i should use scp or rsh but i do not know the syntax can anybody help me how to do this with a complete command ,
copy should have user1 complete data (files , folders, sub folders and files in that)
