Squid Quota

Squid-Quota : http://squid.imagesource.com.au/Ever%20needed%20to%20control%20your%20users.html

I want to implement quota management in squid so i tried with squid-quota. Before compling the squid source we need to add some lines in squid source file (access_log.cc) for squid-quota. While compling the squid source i am getting this error message as mentioned below.

Please help me to solve this problem.

is this correct?

Why don't you try with other out-of-the-box-working addons like squish?

First i tried squish only. In squish quota rest problem is there it not resetting the quota properly it taking more time to reset the quota.

Is there any option to reset the quota by manually or we can customized the quota reset time?

What is the default Squish quota reset time?

If i get answer for these question, i will implement squish instead of squid-quota

It does not reset the quota by next day properly. some time It resetting quota after 12:00 pm and some time it does not doing it.

Squish quota is resetted via cron
can you post the output of crontab -l as user root?

I have attached my crontab file pls check the attachment.

Squish quota reset is working for you?
Is there any free proxy server having quota management?

try putting squish quota reset script into a root crontab, so that we make sure it resets things

Hi ai_ja_nai,

I have added squish-cron in root crontab please see the attached root crontab screen shot.

Squish quota not resetting by next day. please see attached  squish screen shot. I have checked my squish quota by next day @9.30 AM squish has not reset quota. Everything thing is working fine except quota resetting.

Hi ai_ja_nai

I found a solution to reset the squish quota manually.

This is my solution.

1)      After installing squish. Copy this file userdb.stor  from /var/lib/squish/ to /backup
2)      Turn off the squid auto start by default using this command chkconfig squid off
3)      Add the below lines to a shell script file and execute the shell script at a specific time using cron

/etc/init.d/squid stop                                #Stop the squid proxy
rm /var/log/squid/access.log                  #Removing access.log file.
rm /var/lib/squish/userdb.stor                  #Removing squish user quota file
cp /backup/userdb.stor /var/lib/squish/      #Copying   userdb.stor  to squish quota directory.
/usr/sbin/squid                              #Start the squid now
