Browse All TopicsHi All,
We have a number of sites we are trying to implement SNMP traps so our SNMP server (solarwinds) in our colo can get the SNMP info for the devices.
The network is all our sites are all natted, they have a router connected straight to the internet, which means Solarwinds can only get snmp traffic from one device through port forwarding (TCP 161).
I was thinking that I could make the linux server in all the sites (which is our repo server) the snmp trap 'server' as such, which collates all SNMP traps from all the devices in the site and then Solarwinds only reads that linux server and reads all the traps.
Is this doable? Also, I have no idea how to configure linux nor snmp traps (i got snmp working by editing the snmp_d config file and adding the community string). Any simple guide as to how to do this?

There is a simple command snmpwalk (http://www.manpagez.com/m an/1/snmpw alk/) that will read snmp from a server
Put a cron script on your linux server to snmpwalk each of your other servers / devices
