Printing to a HP DESKJET 810C thru linksys print server with OS 10.3.2

Trying to get apple computer to print.  The apple sees the server but when I print I get one line of garbled text on lots of pieces of paper on the printer.

Gonna have to be a bit more specific. Ethernet i presume? Using Appletalk? IP Printing? LPR?

Deskjet printer is hooked (via USB, "P2") to the wireless linksys print server.  The wireless printserver is wirelessly connected to a wireless linksys router the computers (I have a PC and a MAC) both use the router (wirelessly) for internet and file sharing (I am amazed that I have them to that point!!).  Now the linksys wirless printserver has a apple talk function tab in its mgmt utitlity.  The printserver is looking for any type of appletalk zone and is not limited to a specific zone.  The apple can see the print server (it comes up when I added the printer).  Apple Talk is enabled on my mac (Using OS 10.3.2).  I can print a document on the shared drive in word from my PC that I cannot print (and when I mean cannot print I mean that the print server gets the signal from the MAC but what come out is gargabe) from the MAC in the text editor.
I am wondering that if I had word on my MAC if it would print? you think it makes a difference??  Could it be that something is being lost in the translation of data between the apple and the printserver...Am open to different options
Thanks
Word wont make a difference.
It sounds like an AppleTalk issue. Some linksys routers dont handle appletalk traffic and while the print server does, your router doesnt.

See if you can use HP IP printing, or even LPR.

When you print are you going to "Print Setup" and making sure you've formatted the page for that printer?

OK.  THanks for the suggestions, here is what happened:

For HP IP printing - Did not detect device when I entered the IP address of the print server (IP address is static).
For regular IP printing- got "Remote host did not accept data file (32)"
For Apple Talk - the apple is detecting the print server, port 1 (parallel port) but no longer automatically detects port 2 (the USB port) oof!.  The printer is attached to "P2" or port 2 the USB on the print server.  I tried to change the name of the device to <name of print server>_P2 (becasue this is what I got before when the apple DID automatically detect the port) and it still didn't print.  I also made sure that all the P2 were configured correctly on the print server itself..and I can still print from my PC...

I went to the "Print Setup" and formated both automatically and for the print server (but haven't done for <name of print server>_P2, will try that one..) In the meantime, am open to other suggestions you may have.

The router I have is a Linksys WRT54G, haven't done any firmware upgrades recently,do you think that there is a chance that they upgraded the firmware to accept AppleTalk??  anyway, sitll open to more suggestions.

ONe more thing.  The print driver for the HP is not coming up on the MAC, would that make a difference??
I would suggest you run ANY firmware updates on the linksys.

Where are you looking for the 810 print driver? Have you installed the latest versions?

In OS 10.3.2. When I say that the HP is not coming up on the mac, I mean that it isn't showing as one of the printer options, where do I look to see if the driver is installed on my MAC?

I did the firmware update to my router, still not working...I have discovered somethinginteresting, however, when I try to print from excel or microsoft project from my PC I get one line of garbage at the top of the print page.  When I print a word document everything is OK...interesting development....
hmmm...so now its a multiplatform issue. I dunno. Perhaps someone else has some ideas.

Well, the good thing is that Linksys will support the PC problem!  They are giving me a hard time with the apple thing (even though they put a appletalk tab on their print server...they don't know how to (and refuse to) support it.)  Do you want me to keep you updated on what happens....
sure.

Success!!!!!!!!
And it all started with trouble on my PC..I called Linksys and they got to the point where they were convinced that it was an issue with the printers driver and the print server.  They suggested that I do an IP print for the PC, I did it but kept coming up with the same issue (could print word, but not print excel, it turns out I could print small excel files but not large excel files).  So Linksys suggested finding another driver for the printer or taking the print server back and that was the end of my conversation with linksys.
During that experience I learned that the queque for the printer (IP Printing) is L2 (Logical port 2) for USB printing.  I was leaving it blank when doing the IP set up on the MAC...I mapped logical ports 1 and 2 to the USB port (P) and I went to the MAC, set L2 as the queque and VOLA!!! I could print via IP printing from my apple, but the info was not perfect (got some words and then some ink smudges).  So I went back to the print server admin and made a guess.  There are Yes and No check circles for convert LF to LF+CR it was checked yes, so I changed it to no (figuring that this has something to do with processing of data thru the ports, since it was located under the ports tab)..and what do you know, it is like someone opened the flood gates, I can print anything now, pictures, web pages, huge honkin spreadsheets..I am very excited....I can't believe this..I hope someone can benefit from this string!!
Thanks for your info...you helped me explore a couple of avenues..Can I get some sort of credit for solving my own problem??
anyway
thanks
What i can do is reduce the number of points to say, 300 instead of 500. That work for you?
