Error code -36: Copying files larger than ~70KB to Windows 2000 Server

I have a mac user on our otherwise Windows network. The mac user has no problems reading/writing files to our other Windows 2000 servers except with our new NAS server running Windows 2000 (SP4).
The user has full control of a shared folder on the NAS. The user has no problem reading files. The user has no problem writing files as long as they are less than ~70KB BUT when the size of the file goes over that size, the file starts to copy but then stops with the following error message. "The operation cannot be completed because some data cannot be read or written. Error code -36".
I understand that error code means "ioErr I/O error (bummers)" but I don't know what that means. Other users (on PCs) with exactly the same security permissions can read/write files no problem. 5MB files are transferred in the blink of an eye. But with this mac user, it takes several seconds to transfer even the 60KB file.
Any ideas what I have to do to the mac or the NAS to get this working properly?
Thanks

What OS is the Mac user using? Are they connected via ethernet, wireless, or morse code?

I just increased the points... I'm really hoping someone can help
Can only say that 10.3 itself made huge steps as far as networking with windows goes. 10.3.3 made even more steps. 10.2.8 is aging a bit and always had odd issues with windows.

Ill go through the usual suspects though to narrow it down.
1) Run DiskWarrior.
2) Run Cocktail
3) Create a new user and see if that user experiences the same problems.

Turned out it was nothing to do with the OS. On the switch, I changed the port from forcing 100mbps duplex to auto (Dell switch), and now it zooms...
