I've got 6 Windows 2000 Pro workstations joined to an Active Directory domain running on a Windows 2000 Server. Everything runs fine except we can't join any Win XP Pro machines to our domain. I always get an error message saying:
"A domain controller for the domain could not be contacted
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DOMAI
N NAME
Common causes of this error include the following:
- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS."
Any ideas would be appreciated. As well as any reason why this only happens with Windows XP Pro.
