Slow connection beetwen Windows XP and Windows 2003 server for mapped drives

Windows 2003 small business server

Clients are Win XP and Win 2000

Copiing and showing files beetwen XP and server is very slow (for 1 MB i need 30 sec)
but only if drives are mapped. If I use UNC path, everything is OK !

All Win 2000 workstations are working without any problems

No firewall

No antivirus

If you create a mapping, i do believe you use UNC paths, not??
Try setting both NIC's on a static speed and try to make it half duplex (sometimes full duplex between pc's create  a slow connection)..
rhandels is right... but it's usually a problem is one nic is set to half and another is set to full..... try making sure that both nics are set to 100 full.....

curious, do you have any qos options set up?

ASKER

It is not a network card setting problem (duplex, no duplex) !!!

I have same problem on 3 networks but only in combination Windows 2003 and Clients Windows Xp

All other clients (win 2000, NT) are working without any problems !

Another small thing !

If you read carefully my question, if I am not using drive letter to connect to the

server, everything is OK !

I did read that comment, what makes it a bit of a strange problem... I never heard of a problem like this... Maybe PaulADavis has some good idea??
