The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution.   • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. Linksys DSL Router to Wed new ISP's "Gateway"

My DSL used to come from a compact 3Com modem-->Linksys
BEFSR41 Router, then 2 Cat5 cables: to my PC & my son's pc
(upstairs). All ran well until my ISP (Flashcom) closed up.
Northpoint let "Telocity" offer to save my DSL. Telocity sent
me an item as big as a laptop to replace the 3Com modem. They
call it a Gateway ("cause it's more than just a modem").

It was child's play to hook this monster right to my NIC and
voila, I have SDSL. However, without the Linksys in the loop
my son is out of luck. Telocity is unwilling to "support networks"
(they wish to sell this support), Linksys is unreachable,
& I just can't figure it all out.

Please walk me through the myriad settings so I can re-establish
my tiny LAN. Both pc's run Win98 (first edition).
