network cable unplugged... help!

Hope someone can help me, I have 2 same 10/100mb ethernet card installed on 2 pcs, connected with a cross cat 5 cable, everything seem to be alright, but there is no connection.. I am using win 2000 on both pc, and both showing network cable unplugged.. Do I need to configure the TCP/Ip?Start Free Trial
