U need access point and wireless LAN card 802.11b standard r u just networking with in ur office or connecting with
Internet?
If it is high network connection like ADSL brodband better u get one DSL router so it will be easier to to connect even if u don;t hv wire less card by connecting directing into router's port

May be u r confused with access point- its a main source of network. from where where wireless network card recieves the signal.

Wireless PCI cards to be put into the PC's.


Which OS are u using? If it is linux ,find out whether the relevant drivers are present in the market before buying a card.
If you are using Windows, any vendor's card would do

Hello daniel1981

If all the computers are Windows 95, 98. ME, 2000 or XP Home or PRO versions, then you can setup a workgroup and share files and printing among all the computers.

If you have a server (WIndows NT4.0 or Windows 2000 server) you can setup a domain with a Star Topology
(see: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/S/star_network.html  and  http://www.webopedia.com/quick_ref/topologies.asp ) Webopedia is a great site where you can lookup any technical terms. The server would manage all logins, security, file sharing, printers can be installed at the server and shared, and so on.


You can find all the hardware at www.newegg.com (free shipping on most items), and www.cdw.com, also at any local computer store near you:

1- Wireless-G Broadband Router with 4-port 10/100 Switch  WRT54G       $99.99 x 1 =  99.99
2- Linksys WPC54G Wireless-G Notebook Adapter                 WPC54G      $59.99 x 1 =   59.99
3- Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter                           WMP54G     $59.99 x 1 =    59.99
                                                                                                                  Total            $ 219.97 approximately
