You can use Windows XP Home as a client but you cannot join a domain with XP home which could limit your networking wants and needs. Windows XP Professional is best for people who connect to large networks, such as a school or office network, since it allows you to join and be managed by a Windows domain. Remote administration is just one downfall with XP home. Not being able to set up a domain is the main downfall to windows xp home. I am a network administrator and when you log into my network you also log into my domain which is basically a virtual connecion for all the system. You can then share resources easily and share files easier.
