Browse All TopicsI have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 series laptop running a Netgear wireless 802.11b that has been upgraded 2 times, from WIN 98 to 2000 pro, then most recently to XP Pro. I've only worked on the box with 2000 and XP; 98 was before my time. Problem has been the same with 2000 and XP: I can see this box in the workgroup from the other 2 machines (1 desktop cat-5 cabled into the access pt/ router, the other Dell Laptop (also wireless) but this Toshiba can't see the others- get error message that it can't access the servers in that workgroup (one note here: the troubled laptop can see the workgroup, but nothing else). IPCONFIG/ ALL shows all computers on the same subnet and IP addresses are right near eachother when running on all 3 machines. I can ping other computers on this box by IP address, but not by computer name. ICF is disabled on all 3 boxes, as is NETBIOS enabled over TCP/IP on all 3. I can also get out into the Internet with all 3 computers. DNS server is the same address for all 3 as well. Any ideas on what I can check next? I will be updating the BIOS next, as I D/L'd it from Toshiba. I would like to get this laptop on the network! Thanks for your help
