The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Connecting Two Physical Locations Via Internet WAN / VPN

We have a client who currently has one physical location. He is expanding to a second location.

The first location currently has 15 workstation and 2 servers on a single segment TCP/IP LAN.
The new location will have approx 15 workstations and no servers. However, users at the new location will need to securely access the first location's servers.

For the current Apps to work, both locations need to be on the same subnet. Current subnet is based on the IP 192.168.0.x

Because of the client's budget, we are limited to using ADSL and Cable internet for internet connectivity. Traffic is initially going to be relatively light, but we have to plan for the businesses expansion. We will upgrade the internet connections as needed in the future.

What is the best method/hardware to create a secure WAN link utilizing DSL/Cable internet connections? Cost is an issue, but we need equipment that can perform adequately. Other options such as auto-failover and load balancing would be nice options for future expansion, but not required, especially if the cost of equipment with this feature is significantly more expensive.

1)      Is the best option to set up a VPN? What is the best way to set up a single tunnel VPN?
2)      What is a good brand of equipment to use for this purpose?
3)      How have you set up a similar solution? An overview or recommendations would be great!
