Access Internet through another PC on the LAN

Asked by Marakkar in Miscellaneous Networking

In our company, one PC with internet access through the network is allocated for our department restricted to specific UserID and on that particular PC only. I have no idea what kind of proxy/connection sharing company uses. Is there any way my workstation can access internet through that PC.  All PCs are members of company-wide LAN/WAN.  As an experiment, I tried to install a Socks Proxy Server on the Internet PC and use MSN Messenger for no use. I did the same at my home Lan and it is working. Is that I may have missed some step?
