I change IE connection to 'always dial my default connection' and set the default dial up connection.
This works fine until I reboot.
Then the setting reverts back to 'never dial a connection'
Your help much appreciated
Jon

Maybe you just need to click the button -- SET AS DEFAULT -- after you make the change -- see here --
http://support.microsoft.c
If that doesn't work, here is a registry fix -- before editing the registry, export it to a text file, to save the current setup. Run regedit, then export entire registry, then choose "all registry" and save to a file called current-registry.reg
Now you can go in and check for missing or corrupted keys -- This is a windows ME fix, but the registry key names should be much the same as this. Don't do this if you are afraid to edit the registry --

Look at the line above "autodialidname32" where is says default. If it is "not set", change it it to 0 and see if that does the right action. If not, try 1. This problem can happen from missing or corrupt registry entries in the autodailer.
Since this is after you reboot.. .there is a problem in your registry. if when loading 98 "sees" bad information in the registry it will go out and find a copy that it hid (saved) that does not have the error and load this on instead of the current one. This will have the result of changing any settings back that were set after the copy was saved.
try this
Make the change
then in system tools run system information
on the tools menu
run the registry checker
the system file checker
when completed restart the computer..... should have taken care of the problem
