XP computer hanging on applying computer settings

I have a network with win 2000 server
and 3 laptops connected
2 xp pro
1 2000 pro

whenever we reboot and try to log in the computers hang on applying computer settings and i have to pull the Network cable to get them to log in.

once i am in the errors in event viewer are
Automatic certificate enrollment for local system failed to contact the active directory (0x8007003a).  The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.
  Enrollment will not be performed.

Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network. (The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted. ). Group Policy processing aborted.

after i am logged in though i am able to see all the computers and shares.

Our 2000 server is hooked into a linksys router where we pull DHCP and DNS from
