tjanousek is referring to extended ping, you must be in enable mode, it is a great tool, however, it will not perform a continous ping as you
specified above. You can however send a large number of ping packets like 10,000,100,000 etc... This should be what you are looking for.
This command is interactive, there are more options then mentioned above but take the defaults for the ones you are not sure of.

At your router command prompt, simple type ping then hit Enter. It will prompt you for IP, then the address of the remote host, then how many times you want it repeated.
Should work like a champ.
