The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Changing network from Citrix to Network VPN, having conflicts

We are changing some of our remote locations to a true VPN connection.  Previously we were using Citrix for remote offices to connect through a public IP which was routed into the server at the home office.  We will still use Citrix for smaller offices.  In the pre setup with our T1 provider it was determined we needed two routers in the home office, one to route the incoming public Citrix connections from the small offices (as they are done now) and email, and the other router to configure the locations on the WAN and connect to the routers at those locations.

Can I put these two routers on the same switch?  I have 2 NICs on my DC (Win2003 Server), would it be better to have the router that is sending the public IP info in directly connected to this?  This DC is also the DHCP and DNS server.

We (the T1 provider and myself) can get either the VPN to work or the public IP (remote offices) to work but not both at the same time.  When we set one up and try to set up the second router it will not work.  I believe it is because the routers are on the same switch and they are configured to different subnets (192.168.1.1 and 192.168.4.1).

The routers in the remote locations are all older Netopia 5300's, as is one router in the host location.  They also provided us with a new Siemens 5940 router.  I am also thinking it could be the older routers that are causing the conflict (routers are provided by the T1 Co.)

I am trying to set this up ASAP as I am at one of the remote locations so any help is appreciated.
