The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Website timeouts after 5min but AIM always works

Yesterday I was messing around trying to get my xbox live running through my computer instead of the local switch (as was before).

Map:

Cable Modem --> Router --> Switch --> Switch --> Xbox
                                                                     --> Computer

In my computer I have 1 built-in ethernet port and a PCI NIC card.   After Several (hours) attempts to get my xbox to work by using the computers internet connection, I finnally managed to get it to work. I tried for a while using ICS, only to find out that I can't since i already have a 192.168.0.1 on the network, however when I bridged my two NIC devices it somehow worked.   LAst night, I removed the bridge and today I tried making it work again and it failed.

ON the xbox troubleshoot, it says Cables Connected, IP settings configured but fails to find the DNS.

My problem:
Today I noticed, whenever I went to use my browser, I could view sites just like normal but then making 2-5minutes after computer boots up, it just wont load any website at all.  I tried using both NIC cards for internet connection and they both did the same thing.  (Also, xbox is through the switch like it use to and it works fine). All this time, programs such as AIM and MSN work fluently.
I tried repair connection on both nic devices after the timeout and before stuff timesout , and it has no luck. Also, the bridge has been removed (Cuz i don't need that unless i use my xbox through pc)

I just really need to figure out and solve this timeout problem that is only fixed by rebooting (and im tired of rebooting so often), also how I can get my xbox to work through the computers internet (like once did).
