The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Can't coonnect and incorrect ip address in ipconfig /all will not renew and says "media disconnected" for ethernet connection

I am at a real loss here, I have two computers here and one day the internet connection on one went away and could not get it back, both CPU's hooked into Dlink DI-604 router, other computer worked fine, Wife decided to buy new HP computer , open box hooked up ethernet and "limited or no connectivity" starts all over again.

hooked cpu up direct to DSL modem  no luck, 2 hours later with HP tech and uninstalling and reinstall TCP/IP and removind and disabling things I now have connection on the new unit, here is the problem, the second CPU will not connect now I can't renew IP address, I can't release it.
I have followed all the steps to reinstall TCP/IP Have ran Winsockxpfix, it repaired the registry and I now show all the info as before but when I try to ipconfig /all I get an incorrect ip address and subnet mask is also wrong

This is my Teenage Daughter's Comouter and I can't take the wimpering anymore...
