The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Router Internet Problems

Asked by Fubyou in Miscellaneous Networking, Networking Hardware, File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

I have a network with about 80-90 PCs and they are owned by students (personal computers) . All pcs are hooked into 3 Cisco 2950G-EI switchs with a very basic config (no vtp or clustering). The switchs are Daisy chained to together with cross-over cable. Everyone is on VLAN1. All clients get DHCP which is given by a RedHat server configured for DHCP. The network as worked for the last year. All equipment is under a year old. The internet connection is cable 1.4 Mb down 400 K up. The cable modem is motorola. The router is DLINK we have replaced it with Linksys and netgear and all the routers fail. When the routers are hooked into the network they fail with-in 1 hour. When we take the routers off the network the router doesn't work in any form even when the routers DHCP is turned on and one lone laptop is plugged into it with nothing else the router won't assign a DHCP address BUT if you wait 15-30mins un-plugged then it works fine (I have no freaken clue).

I'm at a total loss how the heck to solve this problem other than hiring a priest or burning the building down with a select few people inside.   What can I do??? And why should i do your suggestion.
