The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Web Failover Question

I will begin with the statement that I am a Web Developr - not a network engineer.

If the previous statement has not made you run screaming away in terror...

We host our corporate domain in house, including all DNS entries.  We have both fiber and copper coming into the building, so if one goes down, we still have connectivity to the internet, and the outside world can still see us..

However, there have been several situations recently where, by some act of god, BOTH of our connections have gone down, once for over 3 hours, during which time our web server was 404.  Of course, the last time this happend it was just after we launched a major email campaign that was directing prospects to our web site.  Needles to say our VP of Marketing was less than pleased, mentioned it to the CEO, and then the **** really hit the fan...

I have been tasked with finding a way to ensure that our web site is available 24x7x365, and not knowing all that much about network architecture, have turned to you, the experts...

What is the best way to ensure as close to 100% up time as possible?  Ideally we would want to have a solution that does not require us having someone else host our dns/website.

Maximum points being offered for this one, because the CEO is requiring daily status reports on this project, and wants a solution yesterday.  This means I need an answer last week sometime... :-)
