Hanging on saves - XP Pro on Server2003 SBS

Asked by pauldownham in Miscellaneous Networking

Tags: server2003, pro, xp

A simple network of XP Pro workstations, one switch, one 2003 SBS server - and what happens is that it occsasionally takes forever (like 5 minutes) to save a simple file (eg. word doc).   Once saved, it seems you can save it again instantly. Unfortunately, users think their system has hung and do a workstation reset, then loose their work!

Most of the time, everything works fine - and we can't identify any particular user, file type, time of day, whatever that causes the problem ... it just seems random but regular.

Thanks
