Hello Everyone,
Currently at the office that I'm working at we're running 2 XP Machines, and about 10 Windows 2000 Machines, and soon we're getting more. Occasionaly, Windows Update releases a semi-important update for Office Xp, or drivers, etc...
My question is, is there some type of available utility or software program that can run and install these applications when the computer starts up? Its often a pain to have to go to each individual computer and run the update manually.Additionaly. it's not always updates that need to be installed on each system, it may be new software and things like that.
If it helps, the computers are all networked together on a single domain.

Then set the option to "No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates installations" this will wait until the computer restarts to complete all the updates. This is the best case for yuor scenerio as most updates require you to restart. More information can be found herer:

If you want to save a little bit of bandwidth, have a look at implementing a WSUS server. http://www.microsoft.com/w
You can then utilise group policy to have your workstations pick up the updates from the WSUS server.
The pros
All your updates are downloaded once instead of multiple times.
All your updates will be approved prior to downloading and installation.
The cons:
Someone has to look after the server
HDD space
Cannot be installed on a domain controller

If you are running AD then you could set up Wsus like nixisteve says and set group policy for the settings needed. This will do windows and office updates.
If you want to install programs as well might be worth looking into Microsoft SMS although you pay for this.

One tip if your going to set up wsus is to rememebr to set it up to download only the languages you need otherwise it will download them all. Mines about 15GB just english language.
