We are looking at implementing a RADIUS server on Windows 2003 server for wireless client authentication. I have been told that you can set up RADIUS security for wireless on the server, but am not sure how to go about it.
Can anyone offer some help on this topic or at least point in the right direction? Maybe a step-by-step procedure is available on the net that I haven't yet come across?
Additionally, is there any other free RADIUS server for use with wireless authentication that can be implemented without too much trouble? I have heard of freeRADIUS, but am not that familiar with Linux.

Just got finished, well... actually we are wrapping up an installation at our site doing this with Cisco AP's. What kind of Ap's are you installing?
The articles he lists are exactly what you will need to set it up, it's really not that bad. Windows 2003 server can do it all without having to install any 3rd party software.

I actually use RADIUS server for VPN authentication in our network - it takes the strain of authentication off of the firewall/routers, and provides much better Active Directory integration for external users that authenticate through it.
Using a RADIUS server for authentication in a wireless network treats wireless clients as external users and authenticates them as such. Once the authentication has completed successfully, the connection is seamless.

We are using a combination of CISCO Aironet 350 and 1200 series APs.
From what I've seen, aironet 350 products (APs and cards) do not support WPA or any of the newer security. Can anyone verify this?
Can you recommend a suitable wireless LAN card for clients (notebook computers)?

You can't go wrong with Linksys or Cisco - of course their the same thing now. The older 802.11b cards are $20 on eBay, the a/b/g are $60.
On the 350's, I still have a few around here and upgraded them all to the IOS version. Do you have access to Cisco's site and the latest firmware? If not let me know and I can e-mail the files you will need to you. You've got the IOS version if the browser page for the 350 looks just like the 1200. I believe the WPA support is there, i think...
