Remove SMS Client using GPO

Hey all,

I am a new admin to a network that was recently separated from its parent company, however a few WAN links still exist for finance. All dekstops here pointed to an SMS server that remains on the parent network, the admins on the parent network can still see our desktops trying to connect. I need to remove the SMS client, or at least stop my desktops from trying to contact the SMS server using GPO. Does anyone know how to do this?

I would like to avoid using any SMS client removal tools if possible, I just want them to stop trying to contact the server.

Dont know how you could do it by GPO, but you could remove the the link to the site number in the SMS management on the client.

Create a GPO where, in user configuration, administrative templates, system, you will find a policy called something like "Do not run the specified windows applications" (sorry, I have windows in spanish, so i don't know if this is the right translation)

 you can configure it to prevent the client computers from running the sms client (or whatever program you like)
