You have to have a dedicated PC (it doesnt have to be very powerful) just a used pc for PublicIP. When you boot the PublicIP cdrom, it takes over the pc, if I remember correctly it requires 2 ethernet ports. If you remove the CDrom it boots back up to what ever OS is on the PC. Most Hotspot boxes are rather pricey so, no I dont know of any although there may be some hotspot opensource code that may run on a wrt54g linksys. Might try searching on that one. The public IP works very nice, I gave it a try.

There are "Hot Spot ina box" solutions such as http://us.zyxel.com/web/pr oduct_fami ly_detail. php? PC1ind exflag=200 4052016125 6&Category GroupNo=PD CA2006038 , there are plenty more out there. They require user authorization, so you have to give them a login. If you have an old PC laying around, PublicIP works well and is free, just download it burn an ISO image and boot it up. I gives a login and works very well.
