Can only see Shared Folders in an XP Workgroup when I turn off the Firewall and then Turn if back on on both machines

Hi

Problem: Can only see Shared Folders in an XP Workgroup when I turn off the Firewall.  At this point I  connect to the shared folders.  If I then turn the firewall  ON in both machines I can continue to use shared folders as I please until I turn the machines off.  Once the machines are restarted, I need to go thru the whole procedure again

- I am using Trend Micro Internet Security Pro (2008)
- The Windows Firewall is disabled.
- The other odd thing is that even though the machines can 'see' each other using 'My Computer' when the Firewalls are turned on, I cannot actually PING the computers using the CMD line.  This is very odd.

Any ideas to assist in getting me able to use the Shared Folders without having to turn the Firewalls on and off?
