Auto discovery and network topology

Does anyone using a network monitoring tool/software, free or not so expensive for multiple vlans auto discovery and displaying physical/logical network topology? I would like to get one which is easy to setup and can be configured for snmp traps and some threshold values for troubleshooting connectivity and improving network performance. Your help will be appreciated.
