Exchange 2003 : The recipient could not be processed because it would violate the security policy in force
We have an Exchange Server that uses SMTP connector to send out email. We were getting email returned because it was being blocked by spam filters. So, we contacted the ISP and they were aware of the problem and advised us to change our SMTP server from mailhost.ind.ameritech.net to smtpauth.sbcglobal.net. I made the change, but when I send an email now, I get the following undeliverable email message back:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: test4
Sent: 4/5/2008 1:17 PM
The following recipient(s) could not be reached:
Z-(external) D G on 4/5/2008 1:17 PM
The recipient could not be processed because it would violate the security policy in force
<itechdigital.local #5.7.0 smtp;530 5.7.0 Authentication required>
Could someone tell me what is going on.

I saw that post before, but my message ends with "Authentication required" instead of "PTR missing". I was thinking along the lines of mkumar1978, but wanted to confirm my suspicion. I am currently waiting to see if I can get a username and password for the new smtp server.
Just a followup question on this - did you have to configure the Outbound Security in the SMTP connector for it to work? A client is just this morning experiencing the same problem with SBC.

Killbrad - you are correct sir.
As shown on error message, Authentication is need to put messages on destination server. Maybe MX is pointing to a internal server and not the public server for the domain.
Dangray,
How did you configure outbound security in the SMTP connector? I have added my SBC account name & password and I don't get the error but the email isn't being sent thru exchange either.
