The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Adding Server 2008 Web Edition to a SBS 2003 network

I currently have SBS 2003 Premium installed on a Dell 2950 server for a membership organization. All has been running great including Exchange for the last 8 months. Hosting their own email server has works so well for the organization that they now want to host their own web server. Everything that I have ever read on the subject strongly recommends that you do not use the built-in web server feature for security reasons.  Security is an issue, as they do have a membership SQL database set up on the SBS 2003 Server.

The org. wants a members section on the website so that members may login and change their own information on the web site, which would be tied into and automatically update the database on the SBS 2003 Server.

I have just purchased another Dell 2950 with MS Server 2008 Web edition.  Normally I would set this up on a DMZ Port on the router so that it is isolated from the LAN, and be done with it.  The fact that the web server needs to communicate with the db on the SBS 2003 server leaves me wondering what the best way to setup this arrangement is.

Current configuration.
SBS 2003 Premium r2 with ISA installed on a 2950 with 2 nics. Nic 1 connects to the LAN through a managed switch. Nic 2 via a static IP address connects to the WAN through a router which is connected to a DSL modem in bridge mode. MS Server 2008 Web Edition installed on a second 2950 with 2 nics as well. For testing purposes, I have connected nic 1 to a VLAN port on the router (no static address assigned yet for the web server) for WAN connectivity, and nic 2 to the managed switch on the LAN.

I am willing to purchase additional equipment (within reason) if needed to create the optimal configuration.

Also are there any know issues with joining a 2008 server to a SBS 2003 Domain?
