I am closing this as I found my answer and this response did help me a little. So am going to add this to knowledge base. But it's fairly easy to acomplish. Simply open a telnet session with the switch. [From command prompt enter "telnet 192.168.xx.xx" telnet and the ip address of the procurve switch. Use letter M to bring up the main menu; Select SWITCH CONFIGURATION (usally the first choice in the menu) Then select NETWORK MONITORING PORT.
Enable Monitoring, select the port you wish to use, and then in the action field you can space bar through the choices till you see MONITOR. My configuration was simply. I used the first port to be the port that was going to be doing the monitoring, and all the other ports had the monitor were configured to be monitored.
I used this after researcing the manuals that came with the Switch.
Thanks

John,
All of your Inet data will be headed out one port no matter how many switches you have as it will be the default gateway (your router or proxy).
I am too many years away from a procurve interface but it will be called port mirroring or port monitoring. Mirror the gateway port to this new one and connect your monitoring server. It should receive any data streams heading to the internet and be able to inspect them.
Thanks,
Kent
