Browse All TopicsHi,
I have this Dell Precision laptop that runs Win XP that looses connection once a day. The network card is on DHCP and when this happens it looses the ip and the DNS. when I do ipconfig /renew it picks the ip right away ans is working. Any idea how can i fix this? I have a lot of computers in the network and this is the only one doing this.
Thanks.

Maybe also check the power management settings for the card.
Since it is a laptop, maybe it's going into a power management mode that is also cutting power to the network card; but what is strange is that it also loosing the IP address. Do you also know what the DHCP server's lease time is set to?
Probably is something simple like the drivers mentioned in previous posts, but incase replacing these doesn't help, I've posted more info.

You should start at Dell Support, download and install the latest BIOS, chipset, and network drivers for the laptop.
